Ride The High Country

Old Dillard & Floyd ( D&F ) of D&F Pack Station would be proud of the way this bunch of visiting cowpunchers handling riding through the high country above Huntington Lake. On Friday last, Benta , Robbie, Ben, Jared & George went to ride the Sierra Nevada ridgeline called " Kaiser". Benta was riding Butterscotch the palomino, Robbie was riding Molly the mule, Ben was riding Peter Pan the painted wonder, Jared was riding Hank Jr., and I was riding Sundance. The morning was crisp... maybe 48 degrees and the horses were excited from the chill and some from the excitement......... A fawn had the whole pack station astir as it was frantically searching for it's mother..... the fawn would run around, and run up to horses & riders alike hoping they were it's mom. Eventually , the fawn heard it's mom out in the trees and ran off leaving the horses excited. With the excitement over, we all mounted up and slowly began to move out of the pack station and up the steep hill towards the deep blue sky above Kaiser Ridge. Here are a few visual aids to give a glimpse of the scenery we are privileged to enjoy day. Oh, this trail is called the " All Day Sightseeing Tour / Kaiser Loop".

Here we are working our way up the switchbacks up to College Rock..

Back side of Kaiser Peak .

Approaching Kaiser Peak. Sierra Nevada range laid out in the distance.

Working our way up towards Kaiser Peak.

This long, slow incline is well above 9,000 feet and the horses go slowly allowing riders time to enjoy the sights.

At this point, the riders are just about to top tree line and come out on top of the ridge.

Riding about Kaiser Peak with views to everywhere!

Backside of Kaiser peak and headed towards Line Creek Lake and Snow Pond

Finally coming off of Kaiser Ridge and headed towards Hidden Lake Cutoff.

I hope you enjoyed sharing our ride with us,
