Deep Blue sky

Friday, July 10th, 2026............By accident I found myself riding alone on Friday, and decided to go up where the sky is deep blue. Kaiser Ridge is a favorite destination, and sometimes the sky is so dark blue that it seems to be almost purple. Just dark, deep blue......... No tricks, no filters, just a regular iphone, but high altitude deep blue sky. In one of these pics is the lone pine as I refer to it..... it sits high atop the ridge overlooking the trail as it winds up through a notch to gain access to the ridge itself. The tree?? dead, but how did it grow to such a magnificent size out of a rock? And make no mistake, that is a rock into which this tree has burrowed itself, lived long, and then passed on. And the deep blue beckons you onward and upward.

Of course, no high mountain ride is without flowers, and here are a few............ I am far too ignorant of the names of all of these tenacious flowers.... small , but vibrant and full of color up high where the air is quite thin.
Of course, from such a high perch most lakes look quite small...........Edison Lake, George Lake, and Huntington Lake are no exception to this rule...........these lakes... capable of hosting sailing regatas or remote beyond the reach of most people are distorted by the height and distance.
and then there are these little trails from time to time that appear..... here is one that is a small foot path that takes you from Kaiser Ridge down to College Lake, then to Campfire Lake, then on to Jewel Lake..... I said foot path, but I have taken a horse part ways down one towards College Lake ...... I did eventually abandon my horse and walk
College Rock is a landmark known by most locals, and the view from the rock ledge at its base is a beautiful perch from which to view Huntington Lake and the entire basin...
Riding along Kaiser Ridge itself in summertime is always cool, breezy, and gorgeous.
You all have a wonderful summer. Come ride with us! We do know all the best places to show you!
