Idaho Lake is a quiet alpine lake located within Kaiser Wilderness near Huntington Lake, Ca. At 8,800 fee of altitude, it is very near the crest of the majestic Kaiser Ridge which forms a semi circle of the area. The Lake is ringed by shady trees and low bushes which extend into the lake. The occasional trout hits the surface hunting for bugs, and a few magnificent juniper pines grace the area. Human visitors are only occasional as this lake is difficult to find with no path leading into ( or out of....). Despite being secluded, it is quite close to Upper Twin Lakes area , and is accessible by horse from D&F Pack Station.
Within 200 feet of Idaho Lake is a little granite outcropping complete with a huge Juniper and magnificent views of Gunsight, Kaiser Peak, Kaiser Ridge , and Minarets off to the north. This outcropping has a few sandy spots in the shade which are perfect for the afternoon nap. In point of fact, Jared ( D&F Head Wrangler) and I each took a nap there last Thursday. The dogs & horses also took a nap and Leah ( the red & white dog) climbed on top of a high boulder to take her nap. All in all, Idaho Lake has a lot to offer the occasional traveler, and D&F Pack Station does a good job of bringing the occasional traveler to camp at Idaho Lake for a few magical days.
